Random Collage

One of my personal stress relievers is to make random collages in a notebook I keep just for the purpose. I only started doing this a couple of years ago, so my children were all grown by the time Mommy had a collage book. But you know what’s interesting? Even as adults, they all took one look at what I was doing and suddenly wanted to start playing with collage and collage poetry, too. I guess it’s never too late to influence your children.

Maybe your children (or even you?) might enjoy some collage time to destress and let out some of that inner creative bent we can sometimes lose touch with over the years.

I’m thinking about this because I spent a few minutes this week scanning some of my collages onto my computer. I added one to my random “just for fun” adventure blog.  If you’re curious, it’s linked here.

You don’t have to be an artist to find creative joy in collage. And it’s almost as much fun as those new coloring books for adults! Actually, I think it’s more fun. But your mileage may vary.

In case you’re wondering, I use a regular blank sketchbook (the type I use for keeping nature notebooks), old magazines, wrapping paper, and whatever else I find around the house that looks fun … and glue sticks.  Lots of glue sticks. 🙂

So, what do you think?
